Run:- 2094, 12 February 2024
Location:- Onnut Soi 37
Hare:- Horny Viking

Hashers gradually dribbled in to this now much used location. Some came by car, some by songtaew, while others decided to hoof it the almost 4km from Sukhumvit Road (with drink stops enroute. KC was there, as was The Nigerian (often mistaken for The Norwegian), Turd Burglar, The Captain, Min Crash Daily and several visitors (Doha Man, Baldrick, Tiny Tool and Toolbox, Lech, and a virgin from Bangkok) to name just a few.

Spinning Dwarf did his debt collector thing while Hashers mingled in anticipation of an exciting trail. Last minute arrivals coughed up, SD was able to close the books and at 5.15 sharp GM Maverick called the pack to circle up. Hare Horny Viking gave curt, precise instructions: pink chalk and flour. Go out to the street, turn right, cross the overpass and you will find trail.

Off we went, out to On Nut Road and for some inexplicable reason, some Hashers went left, whilst others charged into the roaring, racing traffic to get to the other side. A few followed instructions, turned right, trotted to the overpass footbridge, found pink chalk and proceeded over On Nut Road safely.

Down the stairs, along On Nut Road in the direction of Sukhumvit Road. Flour was sighted and we were off along Khlong Khlet. The fleet footed front runners were in familiar territory, and charged ahead only to come to a large friendly False Trail mark after approx 500 metres. Back they came, looking in vain. Flour was spotted on the opposite side of the khlong. Way back we went until the fetid khlong waters could be crossed via a narrow concrete beam (a few took the more cautious option and walked another 20 metres and crossed in safety).

Off the front runners charged whilst walkers ambled along. After about 500 metres it was a check that had the front runners searching as the walkers caught up. Check solved and it was another long section of khlong path to the next check. Somewhere near here Georgie disappeared up a lane, closely followed by Doha Man. When he reappeared, Doha Man commented "she led me up the wrong passage. It was definitely the wrong way". Apart from leading Doha Man astray, Georgie was reportedly also spotted photographing a stray cat. Along the way Hashers encountered goats, cattle and the aforementioned pussy.

On we went led by Turd Burglar, The Nigerian, Georgie and a couple of fleet footed visitors. KC was there hollering and waving his stick as we turned left into Khlong Tasat, some on trail, others on the opposite side. On we went. Was there no end to these khlong paths? Eventually we arrived a bridge (soi 46) which saw separation in the pack. Georgie and the Nigerian opting for an alternate route, whilst Turd Burglar found trail and led off with KC still waving his big stick.

At some point KC went his own way, a check was solved, this time away from the khlong, taking us along Soi 56. The walkers had time to admire some old timber buildings, but all too soon we were dodging cars and motor bikes as we crossed On Nut Road and sped down Soi 43 to Khlong Prawet Buri Ram. The familiar sight of the mosque, and then it was over the bridge to cross the khlong, then back over 100 metres further into Soi 39. Somewhere around here Georgie and The Nigerian and maybe a couple of others magically reappeared. The final section of the khlong to Wat Pak Bo gave us a wonderful view of the red setting sun and the lovely broad expanse of the khlong plus some nice houses with water views. Into Soi 35 we quickly would our way to the bottom end of Soi 37 and back to the carpark.

Some additional arrivals included Nibbles who had laid out a spread of dragon fruit, water melon and squares of bread and a topping of chopped tomatoes, black olives, onion, olive oil and a pinch of salt. Yummy. Drinks were drunk, runners cooled down, some changed into dry clothes.

GM Maverick called circle up and proceeded with business: hare Horny Viking was called forth and the pack invited to comment on the run. "Shit Run" cried a visitor, while others were a little more generous. It was awarded one finger by Crash Daily, whist Captain Erik thought it was Fantastic. Overall not a bad run, good use of checks to slow and challenge front runners. Down down. Returners: three if my memory is correct, one being Hater Peacox, not sure who else. Down down. Visitors: about 7 including one virgin. Down down.

RA: Tickler awarded charges for various transgressions and quickly showed who was boss when KC was awarded a down down for interjection. Other interjectors were treated in same fashion. Visitor Tool Box charged for not knowing if she was with her brother, boy friend or her daddy (sugar).

Prick of the week nominations: Visitor from Doha (can’t recall why), Georgie for stopping to photograph a pussy on the run and leading Doha Man up the wrong passage, Tool Box for not know who she was with. There may have been a 4th nomination but memory is not what it used to be. By acclamation PotW should have been Georgie but Tickler judiciously awarded Tool Box the prize. Did Tool Box actually say "it is almost as big as the one at home"? Tiny Tool assisted Tool Box in downing the very large beer.

GM Maverick called for announcements: Next Week’s run: Harriettes Wednesday: Cancelled? No, The Port / Phrapadaeng? Check web site. Thursday: Somewhere. Check Web site

As GM was closing the circle, perennial visitor Lech opined that the down down singing had become one dimensional, with one song only being sung. A chorus of voices burst into song with FoYC. Circle over we adjourned to the nearby restaurant where a feast of food gradually appeared along with cool beer Leo. Nibbles appeared and took charge and confusion and chaos became order and food appreciation.

We dined on green lip NZ mussels, grilled chicken, crab mornay, mixed vegetables, saute mushrooms and finished off with sweet pineapple pieces. No subsidy by the hare as he had left long ago. A good value meal at B300 per head.

Overall another very enjoyable Hashing event.
