Run 1565
Date: 18 March 2013
Location: Oon Eye Din, Ratchapreuk (north)
Hare: Sheepshagger and Deputy Dawg
Scribe: Hayter Peacocks

This week’s run was from the popular Oon Eye Din nightly entertainment (Boom, Boom, Boom) and restaurant venue on Rachapruek road, from where we have had a couple of our recent AGM’s complete with its nice large car park at the rear.

The Hares were Sheep S assisted by D. Dog. (Sing along: Bestiality is best, bestiality is best, and so on). Monday’s Kennel is a mixed hash but as in recent times the pack consisted only of (rather old) male hounds……

Starting time passed the advertised 5.15 for off and despite GM’s efforts to get us going we set of at the regular 5.30, of course as Maverick would point out the days are now getting longer.

Trail was well marked in mixed country; much on roads interspersed with challenging tracks in overgrown ‘orchards’ complete with creepers, narrow sloping paths and generally difficult to remain upright terrain. The checks along the way were many - but they didn’t take long to break.

I soon got fed-up with the difficult terrain and made my way back to some nice solid concrete and completed the trail on roads. Much more sensible I thought after 2 recent falls - I was in no mood for more punishment. Along the way I was set upon by a pack of giant man eating squirrels. Err no, that couldn’t be right; anyway, armed with a big stick I was able to keep at bay dozens of snarling friends of the co-hare. Asking directions as I went, including from a Pakistani on a bicycle, I am not making that up, wonder what he was doing out there?

It was getting dark so I was much relieved to find myself back on paper and then more relief when I saw the big ‘On In’ marked in the middle of the road. By now it was dark and still it went on and on and on. Wearily I followed paper on winding roads until finally another ‘On In’ and this time it was for real, back on Ratchapreuk and almost home, what a relief.

On many occasions I have often wondered when 20 or so start a run where everyone goes, don’t you? After half an hour I rarely see much of anyone else, am I losing the plot? It has been recommended to me that I buy one of those new fangled GPS things worn on the wrist - and when I have had enough head back to the beers. Is that hashing though…

Anyway I digress: No No was back in charge and this week’s RA was Noriega. Prick o’ the week was deservedly awarded to Mr. Burns, aka Adorable Blue Balls for getting scared in the hash taxi which I am reliably informed today either departed from the Landmark or Wong Wian Yai.
