Run:- 1337 Date:- 3 November 2008.
Location:- Supalai Casa Riva, Rama 3 Road
Hares:- No Meat and Weedeater.
Scribe:- Tickler.Working more than an hour from the run site made me a shoe-in for a late start and I did not disappoint myself as I arrived a full 30 minutes after the pack set-off. Unphased by having run solo, I managed to pass Jumpstart walking in the other direction with a bag of freshly cut fruit…who knows what she was up to but she was very excited (like she needed to find a toilet) to point out the trail to me before pissing off in a hurry back to the A-site. Not more than 100m after the Jumpstart incident, I cross the Nomeat and Weedeater marking the final few meters of the in-trail. They were also helpful in sending me off onto the proper path which consisted of concrete Soi that eventually led to concrete klong paths.
All seemed to be going fairly well, the locals did give me correct directions but as I was exiting the 100m of the klong path, a working "backhoe" decided to place it's bucket for a scoop of organic soil and at the same time give the overhead pathway a bit of a shake. Recovering from that trauma, I crossed the highway onto another series of Klong paths. It was dark now and out came "the unit" to guide me along. This work well until I work my way out of the latest series of paths, across a major Soi and into a moobaan where there was this "check" thing. I thought the pack was supposed to break these. Nope, not a shread of evidence to where the trail may be so I check forward left then forward right and nothing! Then I go back right and nothing, but back left found a chalk arrow! Ten minutes to solve that check really put me behind so off I went motoring off down the Soi with not another mark to be found. Traffiic was bad, headlights were blinding so after another 15 min of checking around a Chinese market it was time to pack it in.
With my superior navigational skills, it only took me 15 min find a straight line path back where upon arrival the circle had already started with HASH HASH at the helm spewing bits incoherency that was marginally amusing but came to and end quite quickly as a "cannibus" induced lapsed in dialog kicked in. Now the entertainment was turned over to AJARN KEE MAOW who dizzied the crowd with rapid laps around the inside of the circle while he tested the knowledge of the crowd about obscure facts that happened on that day. Eventually prick of the week was bestowed on someone but can't remember who since I had to receive an important phone call.
The on-on was at the Good View Restaurant. I could not attend so no comment from me but MUDGUARD said that he had been at a few functions there and people did come away ill.***
