Run:- 1329 Date:- 8 September 2008.
Location:- Wat Bung Nam Pung Nok, Prapadaeng
Hare:- Mudguard
Scribe:- Sugar Daddy(?)We left we house in fine weather – not a hint of anything in the air – and you can usually tell when a storm is threatening. We got to the pick up point and waited the expected few minutes until our ride came by. Well, before that happened the skies opened and a real deluge started – just like that…… ……. Man, it was pissing down. We were maybe 6 km from the start of the run, so we expected the worse that evening. Well – it didn’t happen. The restaurant’s parking lot was dry and it never rained on us that evening.
A good crowd had gathered – several visitors, including a first time runner Mary from Georgia (not the one with Russian troops running around in it) and the usual misfits of BMH3 - at 5:30pm we were off to the pier to catch the boat across river. It was maybe 5:50 when we got to the actual starting point. As early sunsets are rapidly approaching, hares please figure this travel time into your run lengths, if you have a boat start at this time of year. We landed at a Wat we sometimes use on runs from the Port. This pier was much closer to it. An excellent run through some of the harder to get to parts of Phra Pradaeng followed. I was with a hasher who has done runs from there and he knew where we were – even though it looked like new territory to others in the group. We got back in about 50 minutes, met the hare (Simon or Simone – never quite sure!!) finishing the run and took the two baht boat (mostly motorcycles) back to Wat Bang Na.
Hashers started arriving slowly and darkness was well upon us when the last arrived. Some hashers had waited for the virgin Mary to appear and were pleased to see she was back at the beer when they got there. As the restaurant had a karaoke setup open to the parking area, it competed with GM Matt’s attempt to be heard. I think they must have turned it down or off then. The usual grumblings about ‘karaoke on the hash’ started. It was a pain at the start of the circle tonight and might have meant only a few stayed for the On On On. There may be no rules on the hash, but it is clear karaoke is either something you either ‘love or hate’. I think ‘hate’ got more votes today. As the circle had started when the last BMH3 members – Love Canal and Naa – arrived, they - of course - had a down down. One new boot – I don’t have the details. A good, entertaining circle followed by social drinking. No rain here. Thanks Simon………
