Run:- 1328                Date:- 1 September 2008.
Location:- Suan Bua Restaurant, Bang Kruai
Hares:- Spinning Dwarf and assistant
Scribe:- Mudguard

Your regular reporter for these kind of events arrived a trifle late; 40 mins to be precise having battled through heavy traffic. On the final approach to the runsite your scribe passed Knots of hashers already returning. Things looked ominous, no wonder that upon arrival at the site the Spinning Dwarf looked worried. Not long since his BH3 hash debacle, a second foul up in such a short space of time and his reputation and rumoured run for the next BH3 presidency could ‘take a knock’.

The hare dispatched me to complete the run backwards. I soon came upon Nearest stumbling about having stirred up a pack of dogs, it seems he had returned early, been sent out again by the hare and was “throwing in the towel” for the second time. A coconut lying by the path dispatched the dogs, and your scribe was off again soon joined by Dunkin Donut also running backwards. So an unlikely Anglo-French alliance was put in place (aren’t they always doomed to failure?).

The run progressed or rather regressed backwards. Through some nice orchards and paths and finally across the main road, through a garage forecourt, and then via ladders across a wall into an abandoned Moo-barn.

Now light started to fade and we were passed by Joylides daughter, Noriega, Joost,No Good Boyo, 4x2, and a smattering of other contemptibles running forwards. It appeared that the greater part of the pack had abandoned the run after the first half and shortcut home. No matter the Anglo French team pressed on deeper into the Bang Kruai jungle finally ending up totally in the dark at an FT. At this point the duo split to locate paper and Mudguard following a call from Donut and moving forward onto what he thought was grass, then took a short jump forward over a bush and disappeared into a lilly pond. Gone!

Donut insisted that he’d only heard a splash and had not called Mudguard on. Mudguard crawled out and the duo reformed and stumbled around for a bit, before finally being directed back to the main road by a farmer.

A pickup back to the site and a clean up meant your scribe joined the circle late.

Circle- all the usual, A virgin/newboot?, Prick of the week. A Wingate Chindit in original shorts, Man boobs an even later returner, Mudguard struggling with his hearing as his ears full of pondweed and giving next weeks directions.

Excellent On On, great venue and very good food for baht 250. No good boyo regaling us with stories of his experiences at 5000 feet in Nepal and how the old farts huddled together to keep warm (all very chummy). No No spotted disappearing into the ladies loo…?

My verdict overall a good run despite the early bath, a site we should revisit again soon.
