Was this to be a repeat performance of a couple of
weeks earlier with the Captain and Suffles as the hare team. This
time the Senator was the hare with the Captain as bag carrier from a
run site only a few hundred meters away from the familiar Unico Golf
car park. The run went right along a klong (there aren’t many
options from Golden Pond) and started off with a couple of well
placed checks that kept people together for the first 10 minutes. A
false trail landed front runners at the end of a klong path and we
found ourselves back on Krungthep Kreeta Road. Back into the back of
the golf club staff area where hundreds of caddies were tucking into
food at the end of the day and a number of male golf club staff were
sipping lao khao secretly. We ran around the golf course with a
couple of fairly obvious checks taking us back to Krungthep Kreeta
Road again and back to the Golden Pond. “A good 45 minute run in a
familiar area” as the Bangkok Hash would say.
Stand in 4x2 ran the circle in the absence of the
GM. Points of note included Diane for being worried about being lost
while only 100 metres away from the run site and new boot Martha – a
seasoned hasher from Vietnam.
Then it was on to the Chicken restaurant down the
road owned by the film mogul. After sitting down, a table next to us
filled with four westerners, a few comments about our crowd “ruining
their night out” were made but it never happened. A quiet (but
delicious) OnOnOn – thanks Senator.
