Run:- 1297                   Date:- 28 January 2008.
Location:- Nakohn Inn Road
Hare:- Nearest and Dearest
Scribe:- Spinning Dwarf

We met, as usual, at the Landmark Hotel to share a cab to the runsite. Scribe, Barbie, Dripper, No No, and returner Geoff Reynolds. Five is an odd number but we opted to put four in the back seat, with the scribe navigating in the front. The taxi driver asked our nationalities and we were all from different places….. Canada, USA, England, Scotland and Australia…. such is the demographic profile of Bangkok hashmen.

A traffic accident a kilometre or so from the destination had the rubber necking looky-loos out in force slowing traffic to a near standstill. Eventually we arrived at the parking lot with time to spare. Lurch arrived in a taxi with a pair of sisters, Anna and Ya Ya, one for each arm. The pack departed, after GM Canal Rapee shouted On On, heading up the highway towards the traffic circle. Normal was spotted parked along the side of the road …. too early for a water stop. We turned left into the garden paths. The familiar trail had a few experienced hashers heading off paper where they knew the trail had to go.

Crossing the road we headed towards the Bang Kruay police station where we knew the trail had to go or else the trail would be very short. The Tickler went way off paper following this logic. Latecomers Pussy Virus and his friend Tawan caught up with the end of the pack at this point after the paper was found heading back towards the highway through Wat Khanoon. The main pack arrived back in only 29 minutes covering a distance of 4.5 km or less. Some athletes among us went out for more, doing portions of the trail a second time.

There was plenty of time to re-hydrate until the circle was called with the usual suspects, including Love Bug, leaving before the circle. Note to Jeanine: Ian “Ajarn Khee Mao” Slater has your 100th run mug. If you ever want to receive it please contact him prior to your next run, ask him to bring it and plan to stay for the circle. Bad Boy Bubby was going on and on about Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting with whomever would listen. Have you ever heard of “Georges St. Pierre”?…. Do you really care? If you do, see www.gspmma.tv for further info or ask BBB, that fountain of MMA knowledge.

There was a fairly lame field of POTW nominations but eventually the winner proved to be Ed “Checkless” Checkley, a regular BMH3 runner from the 80’s and early 90’s, for either throwing a party and not inviting the hash or not having one at all in his Sukhumvit mansion while he is in town. Spinning Dwarf announced that his run next week in Talingchan, 5.5km south of the nearby traffic circle, would provide a full hour of running (in virgin territory for BMH3 to boot).

We moved over to the nearby brightly lit cantina where we enjoyed a good inexpensive meal. Thanks Narest for organizing it all. For whatever reason, people called it an early night with most departing before the 9:00 o’clock gun was fired.
