Run:- 1256                  Date:- 16 April 2007.
Location:- Nakhon Inn Road
Hare:- Tim Wienands, Kim W and Cengis
Scribe:- Pussy Virus

The hare team -- Joylide, lovely Kim junior and Disgusting -- had decided to lay the paper live.  Very bold, I thought to myself, considering the presumed alcoholic impact of Songkran on their livers and other internal organs.  Or maybe they thought the rest of us would be even worse off.  It certainly was the case for me.

Five thirty on the dot the pack set off the catch the hares.  We ran out from the restaurant and along the highway.  We found that the trail went up a pedestrian overpass, where we got a nice view of Nonthaburi's biggest traffic circle.  On the other side of the road, we soon found ourselves in a temple complex trying to sort out a check.  The pack was stuck here for quite a while, trying every possible direction except the obvious, which in the end turned out to be the right choice.  We next did a nice stretch of orchard running (the nicest part of it was actually that we lost Canal Rapee, but more on that later).  Then more highway running.  In fairness, there were a couple of detours, but they were easily solved and brought us quickly back to the highway.  In the end, we crossed another pedestrian overpass and hit the green areas on the other side, running first on concrete paths, then, to the delight of my left knee, on a dirt road.  A clever check combined with flawed checking by Lunch Box slowed the pack down, but eventually Bugs decided to double-check Lunch Box's path and called on-on.  Lead by Bugs, the pack passed our old friendly driving range and into familiar Hash territory.  The checks were solved rather quickly now, as the pack shook off its Songkran hangover and increased its pace.  Before we knew it, we caught up to the hares, who were left with their shorts around their ankles.

Catching the hares gave everyone an appreciated 5-10 minute break.  As soon as we got started, the trail took familiar turns and brought us past the always empty police station.  Next came a nice stretch of green areas, some of it on soft surface and some on concrete paths.  We had to cross a plank to get across a small canal, and I tested that it could not take 93 kg, plunging my left foot into the muddy water.  The poor followers were forced to resort to pole vaulting, jumping, wading and other methods to get across.  Very entertaining for the rest of us, but perhaps not as much fun for them.  The remainder of the run was quite fast, as the pack powered back to the origin within about one hour of setting out.  Some visitors were mumbling that this was an exciting run, front runners were overheard appreciating the length and pace of the run, but Disgusting himself was concerned that the run was not up to his own high standards.  Don't worry too much: we all had a good time.

The circle was handled by Bog Diver and Noriega, who dished out a number of down-downs.  Most prominently, Supaluck (Nong) was again awarded the Prick of the Week, albeit in close competition with Kim junior.  I haven't attended that many Monday runs recently, but it seems Nong has edged out Lunch Box as a perennial Prick of the Week favorite.  Dinner was served at the nearby restaurant, and there was much discussion about the choice of dishes.  I found the Gaeng Tai Pla delicious, but there were plenty of unadventurous farang who longed for their omelets and kao phat amerikan.  Dinner entertainment was provided by Normal (who as usual dominated conversation at her end of the table) and Noriega (who at the other end of the table expounded on the pleasures of tiger balm in anal intercourse).

Thanks to the hares for a super run and a great dinner.
