Run 1199. 13 March 2006.  Flyover Near Outer Ring Road.  Hare:- Malinee K

Harriettes attending last week's run would have been familiar with the unusual meeting point.  Our GM chose the site for a Harriettes run 12 days previously – an uncompleted flyover that will eventually link Rom Klao Road with the service road for the Outer Ling Load.  The location is as about as high up in the sky as any road in Bangkok gets, with an excellent view of the running area.  A few broken bottles and used condoms scattered around the area show that the area is a favourite with late night lovers.  Hare Nibbles explained the day's trail markings and we were off.

Nibbles' trail followed the start of the Harriettes run with much confusion as to what paper we were actually running on.  Best quality 80sgm "Sen Lek" noodle width AA paper or the newer "Sen Mee" narrower finer grade. The trail took us southwards on a klong path for several hundred metres to a check, the paper then crossed over a road and continued down the path.  Meanwhile, mid and back pack arrived at the check, nobody to be seen or heard around.  Imelda, who we discovered was a co-hare was out on the trail and gave a clue by wandering off in an easterly direction.  Five minutes or so later, the pack came running back the klong led by Weedeater having taken the longest false trail in hashing history.  The check was solved and the pack made its way across a very long rice paddy towards the old red road, now with a brand new black asphalt surface.  At the top of the road a bunch of shortcutters, Crash, Sugardaddy and Nonstop who must have taken a straight line out to the limits of the run, found themselves at the point where a series of flyovers that will link to our beer site 1.6km away.  With no runners to be seen, they made their way back along a very pretty klong towards the beer, where they met Ajarn Kee Mao who had lost paper.  with the sounds of No Meat running parallel 200m or so away we made our way back to the beer.

Under the full moon we enjoyed the views of the countryside by night with the hum of the motorway intersection in the distance. “When are we having the circle”, asked Love Bug – “circle in 5 minutes” screamed the GM – the beers were lined up and the GM presided over a rather disappointing circle.

Highlights included 500 run mugs for Joylide and Spinning Dwarf on his 502nd run.

Only about six people did not stay for the on site OnOnOn.  Those who remained were treated to a tasty spread of Thai and Farang food (roast pork, spaghetti, salad) for the sum of just 100 baht.  Thanks to Crash for her catering of the evening.  Plastic chairs were pulled out, we sat down and the evening continued.  The GM was sung a song for his 47th birthday, more snacks appeared and by this time we realised that we had run out of chilled beer.  Joylide, who had left a few minutes earlier, returned with a bag of ice, and Nibbles and Eat Me went out for even more.  We finally packed in at about midnight.  The evening turned into one of those great ONONONs that went on and on.  Good stuff.  Great location. We solved the problems of the world (yet again) but few can remember what was discussed.
