Run 1197.  27 February 2006.  The Crash Palace, Udomsuk.  Hares:- Pitak, Vinai et al

Birthday Bash at Daly Manor

A group of five car-less hashers met at Onnut BTS station in order to split the 55 baht fare to Tim “Crash” Daly’s Udomsuk castle. Twenty minutes later we arrived at the big red brick residence. The identity of the hare was somewhat of a mystery,  I think Vinai “Oversexed” Seesar laid the trail but several others claimed to be hares including Pitak, “Eat Me” and “Light My Fire”. Pre-run talk centered on the great weekend had by those that went to Pattaya for the Koh Larn Classic. Incidentally, seven of the eleven hashers that competed in the grueling race are Monday members.

The paper led out to Udomsuk and then we turned right at the Caltex station heading towards Sukhumvit.  An open field had hashers following their noses rather than paper resulting in some back-tracking.  After a second, longer loop in from the main road we turned into a slum leaving Udomsuk for the last time. Not sure what happened to the pack but a minority seemed to have made it this far. There was a long forward stretch heading due North then we turned right heading towards home. “The Senator” and “Spinning Dwarf” short cut back to maintain the usual hour time limit.

The après run piss-up crowd congregated in the circular garden visible on the picture above. GM “Four by Two” ran speedily to his truck upon arrival to get money to pay the motorcycle taxi that brought him back. Geoff Reynolds and Andrew “No No” Murison got back in an hour forty-five followed soon after by the final Gang of Four, AA Al, Ian “On the Wagon” Slater, Paul “Kick Boxer Katoey” Loke and Wade Cooper

The nibbles were as good as ever especially the camembert, bruschetta and Isarn sausage. Down downs went to all the hares including “Bog” and “Crash” for misrepresenting hares. We welcomed New Boot Bob “Bobo” Thomas who spends most of his time in Rangoon when not conducting recces for the Chiang Mai Interhash. A round of birthday drinks was given to Ian, It, Tuk, Pitak and Jim “Bimbo” Edens. The stand-in RA took over and awarded down downs to the four “dumbshits”, including himself, who took nearly two hours to complete the trail. Other DDs included:
·   Geoff for being unable to find Tim’s house prior to the run
·   Andrew for distributing The Spectator amongst other hashers
·   Steve “Tastes Great” Furst for leaving Nonthaburi with a full bottle of Bombay Sapphire on the table to go to Noriega’s
·   And The Senator for dissolving parliament

Prick of the Week honours went to Bimbo for being the only true birthday boy and also hitting the auspicious fifth cycle mark. The spread of food that Tim prepared outshone that of the Marriot Pattaya’s Koh Larn Classic buffet. And Bobo added that it was better than the food at his Bangkok hotel. It was not to be one of those magical On On Ons that continue until very late, as most hashers called it a night by 9:30 PM. Congrats to the birthday hashers, thanks to “Pisstak” and “Eat Me” for sponsoring the towels, and thanks to Tim for hosting a great evening.
