Ex GM George Morgan
A big pack of 79 runners assembled out for the AGM run in the fervid hope of able to celebrate GM George of the Jungle re-anointing himself as GM for another year. Many had been arguing that, although it would break with tradition, George had been such a popular GM that the hash would absolutely insist that he accept another term of office. While enjoying the balmy breeze wafting off the Chaopraya river waiting for about 20 minutes for the boats to show up, the GM had to bat away countless questions from curious hashers wanting to know if he had indeed decided to take the obvious step and reappoint himself or, if not, then WHO? Finally the boats arrived in spite of the misorganisation by JMs Maverick and Lenscap. We embarked on a pleasant run in the wonderful hashing country opposite Baan Khian Nam. There were no difficult checks or other complications. It was easy to coast along effortlessly thinking one’s own thoughts following the person in front. The pack was back at the pier in under an hour. In other words this was a perfect AGM run – no missing hashers or search parties.
Back at Baan Khian Nam, after a suitable period of social drinking and giving out an insufficient quantity of T-shirts with a funny cartoon drawn by a 6-year old on the front, the GM doubled-checked with Hash Piss that there was enough beer to start the circle. On receiving the go ahead he called the circle – another object lesson in cross cultural relations. Asians often like to give you the good news first. It turned out that there would be enough beer as soon as the new supplies that Hash Piss had radioed for arrived. Meanwhile, the GM was confronted with an ugly situation – a beerless circle and some very disgruntled, vociferous hashers. No Meat demanded tartly that the circle should proceed promptly in spite of the minor logistical problem. Finally after about 10 minutes the emergency supplies arrived cajoled by a frantic hash piss shrieking unkindly at some unfortunate on the other end of his mobile phone connection, presumably his wife, Daeng. The circle began but was immediately interrupted when three drivers decided to the leave the restaurant at the same time involving a pushing and shoving session while employees pushed other cars out of the way in the jam packed car park to enable the escape of the three cars. Since there was so little space, the circle again had to be suspended for several minutes causing the GM almost to lose his grip of the impatient baying pack. Soon after the circle was resumed No Meat and Weedeater announced their departure, having better things to do than hang around in a circle so spectacularly mismanaged. The GM quickly turned things over the RA, Hash Hash, before any more cars could attempt to exit the car park. There were a number of down downs and some one got POTW but I can’t now remember anything about this part of the proceedings since it is now over a week ago and I have a hangover from last night’s onon generously provided by George of the Jungle at his house which was faithfully attended by Acharns Khee Maow and Beefeater until 2.00 a.m.
Soon we proceeded to the aircon room at Baan Khian Nam but some people had to sit outside because the room was not big enough. The GM awarded a number of awards for sterling performance during the year, all the while displaying his drole wit to fine advantage. Awards were given as follows:

Most Mis-responsible Hare Genghis for leaving his own run 1123 to attend an important diplomatic function somewhere between Sukhumvit Soi 21 and Soi 23 AsokeLove Canal was given a down down for taking a 56 week as GM and leaving only 50 weeks for the next GM. Then we were into the announcements of the new committee. Finally there was a moment of shock horror when George of the Jungle went against the wishes of the pack and modestly refused to re-appoint himself. Since No Meat and Weedeater were no longer available to be joint GMs as a husband and wife team, George cast around the room at the last minute looking for a replacement. Finally his eyes fell upon a rank outsider, Mini, who was summarily elevated to the GMship for the next 12 months. The next day, Maverick decided to play a cruel practical joke by posting the new committee on the website with Weedeater as JM before replacing him a day later with Beefeater. Perhaps the new GM suddenly fired him.
