It started off simple enough. The Trail Master asked quite new to BMH3 hashers, Jason “Winey Boy” and John “Saltpeter” to do a run. Being nice guys they said “Yes”. They could get to the Port easily, had done a run or two from there, and had been told there was good hashing territory there. A good bunch of regulars, some chronic hecklers, and several visitors gathered at the Sanitary Section. Off we went. The GM had been spotted and was on his way, but the long boat didn’t wait long enough.
Trying to do something different, they had a check at the start. Complete dead ends were found to the right and there seemed no place to go on the left. In fact, they did go left, but motorcycles were now parked there and paper was not seen. The “It always go this way” crowd eventually found paper in the park. The pack was pretty much spread out early by this unfortunate failed attempt to be different. Next time take us directly into the new original trail you found. We went through the lovely tree lined park and onto the klong paths that zig zag through the pleasant farms and rural scenery. A long run in on the road that all of us recognize. Good effort…
Runners went in several directions it seems as not everyone arrived back at the dock. After a reasonable wait, we headed over the river to the beer – leaving the hares to wait for the stragglers. As it turns out the missing people were already back at the beer. A cell phone call was made and the “All is forgiven, you can come home now” message was sent to the hares.
Good crowd, a lot of new faces enjoyed the great snacks and cold beer. Eventually the GM started the circle. The usual “hares in the circle” set off a flood of abuse to welcome the first time Bangkok hares in memorable style. The chronic hecklers had a great time trying to upset these guys, but they took it well. They would be back for more down downs – on their knees even. Other down downs, that I recall, either from the GM or RA AKM. The Brits were brought in as well as the Yanks – something to do with the sad abuse of Iraqi prisoners by our troops there. Very sad business indeed. Visitors and returners, of course, names evade me. Dodic - for being a chronic visitor – Hash Cash could not find evidence of his ever joining. Terra “Tom Petty” for celebrating her second week, as a member by ordering the GM and RA to get the show on the road. Such disrespect!
The beer ran out so we headed for the outdoor restaurant for some good food, more cold beer, more hare abuse. I had to relate a few tales of past AKM fuckups, that took a long time! Yes the pot was calling the kettle black, as we used to say back in Maine so many years ago. Abuse officially ended at 9pm. Good evening. Thanks again John and Jason.
